Growing up as a restaurant kid in Suriname, means my story starts in my parent’s kitchen.
I’ve learned a lot from watching my parents run their restaurant and eventually started helping them out.
A few years ago, I moved away from home for my studies to the Netherlands, where I gained some independence and started experimenting in the kitchen as well.
At some point I was missing home a TON! And during these times I made dishes my parents used to make.
Overtime my passion for cooking had grown immensely and making dumplings are one of my favorite things to do.
It’s a sense of comfort that I can share with my friends who also grew up eating at my parent’s restaurant.
This was my way of showing my appreciation and love towards those close to me. But why stop there when I can share this feeling with everyone?
So this is how Yummy D’s came about and hope you guys give my dumplings a try!
